Christmas

Well, did you have a good Christmas, my dear reader? Mine was pretty good, besides being a little sick Christmas Eve & day. Dad got a new ipod, so this deaf Santa's helper had to help my technologically impaired father load it. Just hope he likes the music I put on it ;-)  What kind of music do you enjoy listening to? Sure hope you have a greatest 2011 too.

Your advice

Well my dear reader, my oncologist (specialist), talked to another oncologist in San Francisco &e-mailed my mom. The SF oncologist recommends I resume chemo, but once every couple of months per  dose.. I am on steroids right now to see if my brain has swelled. My question to you dear readers, is should I resume the chemo to try & gain my hearing back? Or should I wait a while to see what the steroids do? I don't know if the side effects of the chemo will be the same as before....

Mountains

I have been, as my friend Kristin says "falling down a well of self pity" But no more. I am gonna fight this  make more of my life. So what that I have lost my hearing. Our two oldest dogs are deaf too & it doesn't slow them down much. I'm gonna learn from them. No more being "numb" & having self despair. I am truly sorry to those of you that I have complained to. No, life isn't perfect for anybody & we all must climb our own mountains. What's your mountain to climb? I'll climb it with you.

deafness

Well folks, I woke up with severe hearing loss on Monday & totally deaf on Tuesday. The doctors don't know what is going on, but they prescribed some steroid pills in case my brain has swelled.  I don't know if my hearing will ever return or this is only temporary. I'm just learning to take nothing for granted. I appreciate the fact that I can still halfway see, have a full sense of touch,  & smell.  I also thank my good friends for being there. What are you most grateful for?

December 2

Today I sit here, glad to have my laptop back, the sun shining through the window on my back, & a cold Dr. Pepper at my side.  The almost one month since I have posted has been pretty uneventful, but there have been some ups & downs, One of the ups is I traded my .22 caliber pistol for a .357, & Ma made Teryaki & Peppered beef jerky that makes my mouth water. One of the downs is, I have a cold.

How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was spent with thirteen family members who I love & cherish being around. A person cannot forget the awesome green bean casseroles, cauliflower & cheese, pink salad, honey ham, & turkey just to name a few of the wonderful dishes.

One of my gripes is that the NFR (National Finals Rodeo) is not on until 11:30 tonight, but beggars can't be choosers I guess. I'll probably take a nap today, so I can watch it. Is anyone else staying up for it?

Well, That's about all that's been happening. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season.
